My future university.

Start at the beginning.

I am currently a student at Ahuntsic College, and next year I will have to apply to the university where I will be studying after graduating from college. However, I still have not made a clear choice of which university to go to because of the diverse criteria of each of them. I hesitate between to choices.

Choice 1 : Go to the University of Ottawa.

Choice 2 : Go to the University of Montreal.

Go to the University of Ottawa.

Going to study at Ottawa University might be a good opportunity because I will have the chance to study, either in French or English. It will also be a good opportunity for me to study in a new environment, in another city, and then discover it as time goes by. However, going there means that I will have two choices to make, either to live in the residence of the university and let my parents pay for all of my needs or to work for the first 6 months to get some money for some of my needs and then rent a house in which to live in.

Choice 1 : Live in the residence of the university.

Choice 2 : Work for the first six months.

Live in the residence of the university.

Living in the residence of the university would mean that my parent will have to pay for all of my needs. However, this might be difficult because they will have to spend a lot of money for only one person, while they also have to provide the needs of my siblings. For that, I might consider another option.

Work for the first six months.

Also, instead of living in the residence of the university, I can work for the first six months, without studying, in order to earn enough money and then help my parents for providing for my needs. But, with that option, it means that I will have to spend six months without studying, which is not good news for me because I would like to finish my studies and then start practicing as a lawyer.

Go to the University of Montreal.

When speaking of my choices of university, the University of Montreal is also one of them. Moreover, I will not have to move from my parents' house. Besides, except for the materials' money and the school fees, there will be fewer needs that I will have to fulfill. However, the problem with this university is that I may risk to not enter the field of study that I might have asked for. Since the field of law is very coveted by many students, I may have to be redirected in another program, depending on my dimension R (Cote R). In other words, either I will study in the field of Law or I may have to choose another one like communication.

Choice 1 : Study in the field of Law.

Choice 2 : Study in the program of communication.

Study in the field of Law.

As I said before, pursuing my studies in the field of law would be a chance for me to fulfill my dream of becoming a lawyer. It would be a big opportunity that I might not fail to exploit. However, being able to access it is very difficult because it requires a dimension R of more than 29. Moreover, candidates who wish to enter it are many, which means that there has to be a selection since places are limited.

Study in the program of communication.

Communication is another program that I would exploit in case I am not accepted in the faculty of law. It could be a good chance for me to upgrade my knowledge and my abilities that are I have, concerning that program.
